StormGeo and Vissim have been contracted to provide vessel management and weather forecasting services for the Seagreen 1 offshore wind farm in Scotland.

The collaboration between StormGeo and Vissim will see live, on-site measurement data from Vissim’s wave devices being sent to StormGeo, which then creates live weather forecasts for Vissim’s vessel management system. These forecasts are also funneled into the metocean forecasting feature within the StormGeo portal.

“This collaboration enables us to present live, forecasted weather data in a clear and actionable format within Vissim’s Next Generation operational overview. StormGeo’s services are an important component in our delivery of consistent, real-time decision support in both construction and operation” , said Nicholas Dent , Managing Director for Global Wind at Vissim.

Seagreen 1, owned by Total and SSE Renewables, will feature 114 Vestas 10 MW turbines, to be delivered in different load optimised modes to adapt to grid requirements for the 1,075 MW project.

The project is expected to be operational in 2022/2023, when it will become Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm.
