The La Gan Wind Power Development Corporation has signed two contracts with Vietnam’s Northern Center for Planning and Investigation of Marine Resources and Environment (CPIM) for the 3.5 GW La Gan offshore wind farm.

Under the contracts, CPIM, in cooperation with the Danish geological authority GEUS, will deliver a geophysical survey and geological and marine usage study for the La Gan project.

“We are extremely pleased to support this collaboration between two government agencies and facilitate knowledge transfer to Vietnam” , the developer said via social media.

The La Gan Wind Power Development Corporation is developing the 3.5 GW project on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Asiapetro, and Novasia Energy.

CIP and the Vietnamese companies Asiapetro and Novasia Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Binh Thuan People’s Committee for the development of the offshore wind farm off the coast of the Binh Thuan province in July 2020.

The project is planned to be built in two phases. The first 500 MW to 600 MW phase is scheduled to be up and running by 2024, and the remaining 3,000 MW are expected to be added between 2026 and 2030.

Back in November 2020, the La Gan Wind Power Development Corporation awarded site investigation contracts to AXYS Technologies and NIRAS Group.

This February, the developer signed four Memoranda of Understanding for foundation supply and harbour services with Vietnam-based suppliers: CS Wind Corporation, PTSC Mechanical and Construction, South Petroleum Construction J.S.C., and Vietsovpetro.
