DEME Places Order for Arcadis Ost 1 Hardware in Poland

DEME Offshore has signed a contract with Poland’s Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia (EPG) for the fabrication and delivery of equipped secondary steel structures for the Arcadis ost 1 offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.

EPG will deliver 27 sets of equipped secondary steel structures for turbine foundations, and for one offshore substation transition piece.

The 257 MW Arcadis Ost 1 is located in a 12 nautical mile zone, 20 kilometres northeast of the island of Rügen.

Mathieu Holvoet , Project Director DEME Offshore said: ”The award of this important contract to EPG is an important milestone towards the delivery and subsequent installation of 28 Foundations for Parkwind’s Arcadis Ost 1 windfarm. With confidence we look forward to continue our collaboration with EPG and start the fabrication process soonest.”

Arcadis Ost 1 will comprise 27 MHI Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines scheduled to be commissioned in 2023.

Belgium’s Parkwind, the owner and developer of the wind farm, expects to start the installation activities at the offshore site in 2022.

Earlier this year, Parkwind awarded DEME Offshore with an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract for the wind farm’s foundations.

The next-generation XXL monopiles will be the largest-ever installed in Europe with a weight of around 2,000 tonnes each, according to DEME.

The monopiles for the wind turbines will not be equipped with common transition pieces but will have a direct connection with the turbine tower.

The wind farm’s turbines will be installed using the floating turbine installation method, an industry’s first, from June 2022 onward.
