Equinor has selected Vissim for the provision of digital support of the marine operations at the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank Wind Farm in the UK.

Under a long-term framework agreement, the Norway-based company will provide digital marine optimisation solutions to the operator’s offshore wind projects, including an immediate call-off for Dogger Bank A, B and C.

Dogger Bank is being built in three equal phases of 1.2 GW each and, once commissioned, will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

Wind turbine installation at Dogger Bank A and B is expected to start in 2023, while at the Dogger Bank C site this work is set to begin in 2025.

The first two phases, Dogger Bank A & B – a joint venture between Equinor, SSE Renewables, and Eni – are scheduled to be operational by 2024. The third phase, Dogger Bank C, owned by Equinor and SSE Renewable, is being developed on a different timescale with the operation date set for 2026.

Since the beginning of this year, Vissim has won contracts to provide its digital solutions for new offshore wind projects in France, Scotland and Japan.

In Scotland, the company, together with StormGeo, signed a contract to provide vessel management and weather forecasting services for the Seagreen 1 offshore wind farm .
