The company’s 1,000th turbine was a Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW unit installed at the 1,386 MW Hornsea Two offshore wind farm, the 16th wind turbine to be erected at the wind farm.

Ørsted currently has 12 operational offshore wind farms that the company either owns or partly owns in the UK, one wind farm under construction, i.e. Hornsea Two, and a further three projects in the development pipeline.
The installed capacity of the 12 operating offshore wind farms is 4,921 MW. With the 16 Hornsea Two turbines, Ørsted has reached another milestone and has surpassed 5 GW of installed offshore wind capacity in the UK.
Once commissioned in 2022, Hornsea Two will become the largest operating offshore wind farm in the world, taking the crown from the 1.2 GW Hornsea One.
Located some 89 kilometres north-east of Grimsby, Hornsea Two comprises 165 wind turbines, an offshore substation, and a reactive compensation station (RCS).
The turbines are being transported from Siemens Gamesa’s facilities in Hull and to the site and installed by DEME Offshore’s jack-ups Sea Challenger and Sea Installer.
