The Netherlands-based Twentsche Kabelfabriek (TKF) has secured a contract by Van Oord for the supply of inter-array cables for the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind project.

TKF will manufacture and deliver 140 kilometers of 66 kV inter-array cables and associated accessories for the wind farm located approximately 18 kilometers from the Dutch coast, nearby Egmond aan Zee.

“We are very satisfied with TKF as a partner for the supply of the inter-array cables at the HKN project ,” said Arnoud Kuis , managing director at Van Oord Offshore wind. “ Special to mention is that the cables of TKF will be produced in the Netherlands.”

The CrossWind consortium, comprising Shell and Eneco, selected Van Oord as the Balance of Plant contractor for Hollandse Kust Noord last summer, after winning the tender to build the project.

Van Oord’s activities include the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the foundations, inter-array cables, and transportation and installation of the turbines.

The 759 MW offshore wind farm, which will comprise 69 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW turbines, is scheduled to be fully operational by 2023.

TKF is also providing inter-array cables for the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm, under a contract signed with Vattenfall in May last year.
