Magnora Offshore Wind, a joint venture (JV) between Magnora and TechnipFMC, has submitted two applications in the ScotWind seabed leasing round in Scotland, the company informed on 19 July.
The two companies, which established the joint venture earlier this year, did not detail on the projects, but the focus of the partnership is on floating wind and, in the near term, on bidding to build floating wind farms off Scotland and Norway.

“When combined with TechnipFMC’s unique technologies, experience delivering integrated projects and novel Deep Purple initiative to integrate wind and wave energy with offshore green hydrogen storage, this partnership will enable Magnora Offshore Wind to realize significant opportunities in the growing offshore floating wind market” , Magnora Offshore Wind stated on 19 July.
The joint venture joins several other companies and consortia now known to be competing to build offshore wind farms in Scotland, most of them planning to use floating wind technology: RWE ; Shell and ScottishPower ; SSE, Marubeni, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners ; Ørsted, Falck Renewables, and BlueFloat Energy ; bp and EnBW ; Vattenfall and Fred. Olsen Renewables ; TotalEnergies ; Eni and Red Rock Power ; Ocean Winds and Aker Offshore Wind ; Macquarie and RIDG ; and others.
The winners of the seabed leasing, for which the application period closed on 16 July, are expected to be announced early next year.
