A geotechnical survey is set to begin along the proposed export cable route at the Seagreen Phase 1A offshore wind farm.
The survey vessel Northern Ocean will conduct the seabed cone penetration tests and vibro core sampling within the export cable area and the Seagreen array site boundary.
The survey is expected to start on or around 1 August with the works expected to be completed in 33 days.
Recently, a shallow geotechnical survey involving sediment probing and ROV inspections of the seabed was carried out within the export cable area.
Seagreen offshore wind farm, owned by TotalEnergies and SSE Renewables, is located 27 kilometres off the Angus coastline.
The Scottish wind farm will feature 114 Vestas 10 MW turbines expected to be operational in 2022/2023.
Last year, Nexans secured the contract to supply and install three 65-kilometre offshore export cables and three 20-kilometre onshore export cables for the 1,075 MW project.
The company will use its newbuild DP3 cable laying vessel (CLV) Nexans Aurora for the offshore installation.
