A consortium between Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Financial Services (SFS) is one of the bidders in the ScotWind offshore wind leasing round, the companies revealed on 30 July.
The bid is supported by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Siemens Energy, which will work with Mainstream and SFS as Tier One suppliers, if the bid is successful.
The partners said that, along with offshore wind development, they would also look to mobilise their collective expertise to explore ancillary technologies locally, including green hydrogen production.

Our consortium’s track record of success means we can deliver on our clear plan to drive forward Scotland’s green energy transition supported by the transformation of the local Scottish supply chain” .
The consortium pointed out that it had already developed a sustainable offshore wind supply chain in Hull and the Humber, following its development of the Hornsea zone, and said that it was now looking to replicate this in Scotland.
The consortium joins tens of other companies and consortia bidding to build offshore wind farms in Scotland.
Crown Estate Scotland recently said it had received 74 applications from offshore wind developers looking to secure rights to build projects across the 15 areas of seabed available for development through the Scottish Government’s Sectoral Marine Plan for Offshore Wind Energy.
After the ScotWind application period closed on 16 July, the Scottish seabed manager said it planned to make initial offers for the first option agreements to successful applicants in January 2022.
