GE Renewable Energy has inaugurated the logistics hub dedicated to the construction of France’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm – the 480 MW Saint-Nazaire.
The logistics hub in the Nantes-Saint-Nazaire Port was officially inaugurated by the French Prime Minister Jean Castex, Barbara Pompili, France’s Minister of the Ecological Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, a Delegate Minister of the Ministry of the Economy in charge of the industry, Jérôme Pécresse, President and CEO at GE Renewable Energy, and Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of EDF Group.
Also known as Parc du Banc de Guérande, the Saint-Nazaire wind farm will feature 80 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines installed between 12 and 20 kilometres off the coast of the Guérande peninsula.
Being developed by Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a consortium of EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge, and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the wind farm is scheduled to be fully commissioned in 2022.
Offshore construction work at the site is currently ongoing with the installation of the monopile foundations.
