Bladt Industries and Steelwind Nordenham have signed monopile foundation supply contracts with Ørsted for the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farms in Germany.
In addition to the contracts for the two projects, Ørsted has also secured call-off rights with the two manufacturers for further volume for other projects, if needed.

“[By] placing large volume orders, we can give suppliers the visibility they need to invest in their manufacturing facilities and build long-term capacity, which will benefit the whole industry and thereby benefit the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy” , said Richard Hunter , Chief Operating Officer at Ørsted.
For the 242 MW Gode Wind 3 and the 900 MW Borkum Riffgrund 3, the companies will deliver a total of 107 XXL monopiles, 66 of which will be supplied by Steelwind Nordenham and 41 by Bladt Industries.
This includes 106 wind turbine foundations and one foundation for the offshore substation for Gode Wind 3, with the topside to be built by Atlantique Offshore Energy in Saint Nazaire, France.
The monopiles for future offshore wind farms, including Borkum Riffgrund 3 and Gode Wind 3, will be up to 100 meters long, have a diameter of almost 10 meters, and weigh 1,200 tonnes or more, according to Ørsted.
The developer is yet to reach final investment decisions for the two projects, both of which will comprise Siemens Gamesa wind turbines.
Ørsted expects the installation of the 242 MW Gode Wind 3 to begin in 2023, with commissioning being completed in 2024. The 900 MW Borkum Riffgrund 3, whose construction will be carried out in parallel with that of Gode Wind 3, is planned to be commissioned in 2025.
