The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has issued prior information notice about an upcoming tender for two meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) campaigns to be carried out at the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone (IJVWFZ).

The tender, expected to be launched in October, will be divided into two lots, one for each of the two campaign sites which will be further specified later. Companies will be able to submit an offer for one or for both lots.

The metocean field campaign for the first lot is scheduled to start in the first quarter 2022, while the second campaign will start in the second quarter of the same year.

Each of the campaigns will have a duration of 24 months and will involve three systems, two individual floating LiDAR systems and one spare to measure wind, wave and current properties.

The data obtained from the metocean campaigns will be published by RVO and is required for the preparation of bids for the permit tenders for the two areas within the 4 GW IJmuiden Ver offshore wind farm zone, expected in 2025, according to the tender notice.

The Dutch government will issue two tenders for the permits to develop the zone. In 2023, developers will bid for IJmuiden Ver I and II sites, and in 2025 a tender will be launched for IJmuiden Ver III and IV.

TenneT will install two 2 GW direct current connections at the wind farm zone to transfer electricity generated by IJmuiden Ver offshore wind farms to land.

Located some 62 kilometres off the Dutch coast, IJmuiden Ver is one of the three sites identified in the Dutch Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030. The three zones have a combined capacity of 6.1 GW and will help the Netherlands reach the target of 11.5 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.
