Cloudberry Clean Energy, a Nordic renewable energy developer and power producer currently working on a shallow-water wind farm in Lake Vänern in southern Sweden, is strengthening its offshore wind business and looking into opportunities for developing further shallow-water as well as “conventional” offshore wind projects.
Cloudberry’s CEO Anders Lenborg said the company had an ambition to develop 2.5 GW offshore wind in the Baltic Sea by 2030 and that it aimed at becoming a substantial developer of shallow water wind energy projects.
The company has set up a new business unit, Cloudberry Offshore Wind, where it is scaling up its team and has recruited Charlotte Bergqvist, former Managing Director of wpd Scandinavia AB, as CEO. Cloudberry’s new business area is dedicated to pursuing investment and development opportunities within shallow water wind energy in the Nordics.
Bergqvist’s main focus will be developing the project in Lake Vänern, called Stenkalles Grund, to a final investment decision (FID), as well as further development of Cloudberry’s offshore wind portfolio in the Baltic Sea where the company has a portfolio of both shallow water and conventional offshore wind projects.
Cloudberry acquired the 100 MW project located in shallow waters on the largest lake in Sweden last year through buying 100 per cent ownership in the project’s holding company Scanvind2.
At the beginning of this year, the company signed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with Downing LLP for the construction and ownership of the 100 MW nearshore wind farm in Lake Vänern. After commissioning, Cloudberry will own 20 per cent of the project.
