Seaway 7 ASA has been selected as a preferred contractor by Ørsted for the transport and installation of wind turbines for part of the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farms in Germany.
The installation will utilise the company’s jack-up installation vessel VIND1, and the projects are expected to be fully commissioned in 2024 and 2025.

The contract award is subject to EU tendering procedures, and Ørsted’s final investment decision to proceed with the projects.

Subsea 7 and OHT have recently established Seaway 7 ASA as a standalone company after combining their respective fixed foundation offshore wind businesses. This is the company’s first contract since the combination was completed.
Ordered by OHT, VIND1 is currently under construction at China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) in China. CMHI will build the vessel in Jiangsu and is expected to deliver it to Seaway 7 in the first half of 2023.
As previously reported, Ørsted also selected Cadeler A/S as a preferred wind turbine installation vessel supplier for the two projects in Germany with a combined capacity of over 1 GW. Under the contract, Cadeler will install a minimum of 48 Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-200 DD wind turbines at the two wind farms.
