Buss Terminal in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, has completed the handling and load-out of the 165 monopile foundations for the 1,386 MW Hornsea Two offshore wind farm.
Over the last 15 months, Eemshaven served as the base port for the handling and load-out of the 165 monopiles and transition pieces.
The Buss Terminal in Eemshaven was contracted by DEME Offshore, responsible for the transport and installation of the winda farm’s foundations.
Buss Energy Group´s team of project managers, stevedores, and technicians provided a full scope of base harbour activities, including the handling of components of up to 1,230 tonnes per unit, provision of onshore storage solutions for the monopiles and the transition pieces, and provision of warehousing and office facilities.
Furthermore, a custom-designed transition piece gantry handler was used to enable a more efficient logistics and storage set up.

Located in the North Sea some 89 kilometres off the Yorkshire Coast, UK, Hornsea Two spans an offshore area of 462 square kilometres and will be the world’s largest wind farm when it goes into operation in 2022.
Being developed by Ørsted, the wind farm will comprise 165 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW wind turbines, over a hundred of which have already been installed.
