Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has loaded out the jacket foundation for the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore substation in the Port of Vlissingen and plans to send the substructure off to TenneT at the end of October.
The jacket, weighing 2,100 tonnes, was brought onboard a pontoon from the company’s yard by Mammoet on 16 October.

The load-out and the upcoming installation come ten months after the HFG started building the substation jacket under a contract with Iemants, a subsidiary of Smulders.
According to HFG, the jacket was designed in such a way that, with regular maintenance, it will have a minimum lifespan of 40 years.
TenneT selected the ENGIE Fabricom – Iemants joint venture to construct the offshore substation for Hollandse Kust Noord through last year.
Iemants is responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the steel structures for both the topside and the jacket, while ENGIE Fabricom is responsible for the engineering, procurement, integration, construction and testing of all LV, MV, HV, and auxiliary systems.
The topside is scheduled to be installed next year.
The Hollande Kust Noord offshore wind project will be built by the CrossWind consortium between Shell and Eneco, which won the tender in the summer of 2020.
Located some 18.5 km off the Dutch west coast, the 759 MW wind farm will comprise 69 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW turbines planned to be operational by 2023.
