TÜV SÜD has completed certification of Vattenfall’s Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm, built in the Danish sector of the Baltic Sea and operational since September of this year.
“Certification confirms that Kriegers Flak wind farm is in compliance with Danish regulations and that the safety of the wind farm is ensured” , said Liana Tatar , the responsible project manager at TÜV SÜD.
TÜV SÜD’s contract covered certification of the design of the foundation structure as well as surveillance and certification throughout the manufacturing, transport, installation and commissioning phases in accordance with BEK 73 (Executive Order from the Danish Ministry for Climate, Energy and Buildings, No. 73).
Within the scope of certification, TÜV SÜD’s offshore wind energy experts examined the design of the wind turbines’ monopile foundations and their connections to the towers by means of a transition piece, the certification company said.
Design examination of the foundations started in summer 2018. The project certificate was handed over to Vattenfall in early September 2021.
The construction of Kriegers Flak started in May 2020, when the first foundation was put in place. Wind turbine installation started at the beginning of this year and the wind farm delivered its first power in early February. The final turbine was erected in June.
At the beginning of September, the project was inaugurated by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Denmark, together with Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Simon Kollerup.
