Boskalis Wins EUR 450 Million Offshore Wind Contract

Boskalis has been awarded an approximately EUR 450 million contract for transportation and installation of monopile foundations and substations for an offshore wind project.

The company informed about the new contract on 15 November without disclosing any specific details about its client or the offshore wind project, other than information that engineering and pre-construction work had already commenced and that project execution was scheduled to commence in 2023.‎

In terms of Boskalis’ operations, the new contract ties up one year of crane vessel utilisation days, in addition to the equivalent of two years of heavy transport vessels, according to the company.

Along with a fleet of heavy transport vessels, Boskalis also owns two heavy lift crane vessels, Bokalift 1 and Bokalift 2 , with the latter currently undergoing conversion in Dubai and set to enter into service early next year.

The newly-converted Bokalift 2 will have its premiere in Taiwan’s waters on the 589 MW Changfang and Xidao offshore wind project, where Bokalift 1 is currently carrying out the first jacket foundation installation campaign.

In its half-year results released this month, Boskalis reported that offshore wind accounted for 43 per cent of revenue in its Offshore Energy division which saw an 18.4 per cent revenue increase in the first half of 2021.

Overall, Boskalis’ Offshore Energy business segment accounted for 45 per cent of group revenue.
