Polish Developer to Hold Supply Chain Meeting for 1.2 GW Offshore Wind Project

Baltic Power, the vehicle responsible for the construction of PKN ORLEN and Northland Power’s first offshore wind farm in Poland, is arranging another meeting for potential contractors interested in joining the supply chain for the project.

PKN ORLEN and Northland Power are jointly developing the 1.2 GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea. Construction is expected to commence in 2023 and end in 2026 at the site located approximately 23 kilometres north of the Baltic Sea coastline, in the vicinity of Choczewo and Łeba.

The meeting participants will learn about detailed plans for each of the seven installation packages making up the project implementation process, namely the wind turbine package, the foundation package, the offshore substation package, the onshore substation package, the internal and export cable package, the O&M package and the logistics and transport package, Baltic Power said.

”Investment in offshore wind power in the Baltic represents a chance for robust growth of a new sector of Poland’s economy. The ORLEN Group, as a leader in offshore wind projects, is strongly committed to engaging Polish businesses in such projects. We will strive to maximise local content for the Baltic Power farm, one of the fastest progressing projects in Poland. We hope that considerable involvement of local suppliers will encourage them to take even more active part in further projects planned by the Group in the Baltic,” said Daniel Obajtek , President of the PKN ORLEN Management Board.

During the online conference, to be held between 30 November and 1 December, the participants will also be informed of the current status of preparations and schedule of the project, and will find out more about the project partner, Canada’s Northland Power of Canada.

The conference is planned to have a workshop format, with each package presentation followed by a discussion and Q&A session. During the event, the participants will also be offered an opportunity to create their own unique section containing a presentation of their respective companies: their experience, business focus, and contact details for other parties interested in starting cooperation.

The Baltic Power Offshore Wind Supply Chain Meeting 2021 is a continuation of dialogue with Polish businesses that PKN ORLEN started back in 2020. The first meeting brought together almost 400 representatives of 273 companies, giving them an opportunity to learn about the detailed project schedule, procurement processes, and plans for the development of offshore wind projects at the ORLEN Group.

”The registration form for businesses interested in collaboration on the project, made available on our website last year, has proven a huge success. We are aware that some of the potential key contractors for individual installation packages have used its resources to get in touch with selected Polish businesses. Because we want to intensify dialogue between the companies, we have decided to organise the next event in a format fostering interaction between its participants. As the project owner, we wish to ensure the best possible conditions for talking and forging business links,” said Jarosław Broda , President of the Baltic Power Management Board.
