Swedish developer OX2 has applied for a Natura 2000 permit for the 1.8 GW Triton offshore wind farm located within the Swedish economic zone off the coast of Skåne.
The wind farm is located some 30 kilometres south of Ystad and will comprise between 68 and 129 wind turbines with a maximum height of 370 metres.

The application is being processed and will be decided on by the County Administrative Board of Skåne County. It concerns a Natura 2000 permit and includes an environmental impact statement (EIA), OX2 said.
If built to full capacity, the Triton offshore wind farm would produce 7.5 TWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the needs of around 1.5 million households, OX2 said.
This is the company’s third application submitted for offshore wind projects in a little over a month.
OX2 submitted a permit application and a Natura 2000 application for the Galatea-Galene offshore wind farm. The project would comprise 101 turbines and is divided into two areas: Galatea, located about 25 kilometres from Falkenberg, and Galene, located about 25 kilometres offshore Varberg.
OX2 has also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Finland’s Bank of Åland Fondbolag Abp for the development of the Noatun offshore wind farm project south of the Åland Islands.
The two parties aim to establish a jointly owned company in which OX2 is the developer and Ålandsbanken Fondbolag a long-term part-owner until the project is completed.
The Noatun project is in an early phase and is expected to consist of approximately 250 wind turbines that will provide 20 TWh of electricity per year.
