The jack-up vessel Seajacks Scylla has arrived in the Port of Taichung in Taiwan in preparation for the turbine installation work on the 900 MW Changhua 1 and 2a offshore wind farms.
The installation work is expected to start as soon as a favourable window opens.
Seajacks Scylla will transport and install 111 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines at the project site located 35-50 kilometres off the coast of Changhua County throughout 2022.
Siemens Gamesa has chartered CWind Taiwan’s crew transfer vessel Phenom throughout the wind turbine installation campaign of the project.
The wind farms are scheduled to be fully operational by the end of the year.
Following the completion of work on the Greater Changhua project, Seajacks Scylla will return to Europe to start a charter with Van Oord.
Offshore construction on the Greater Changhua 1 and 2a wind farms started in the summer of 2021 with the installation of the first wind turbine jacket foundation and the laying of the first export cable.

The 605 MW Greater Changhua 1 wind farm is owned by Ørsted (50 per cent), and a consortium comprising Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and the Taiwanese private equity fund, Cathay PE (50 per cent).
The 295 MW Changhua 2a is owned solely by Ørsted. The wind farms are being developed by Ørsted.
