Denmark-headquartered marine survey provider, Survey Association, has decided to exit the US offshore wind market.
Survey Association has been involved in the offshore wind markets in Europe and Japan for more than two decades.
In 2020, the company formed a strategic alliance with Charles Taylor Marine Technical (CTMTS) Services to provide Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) services to the US offshore wind sector.
Since the inception of the alliance, Survey Association has been training CTMTS staff in the disciplines of Offshore Wind Marine Warranty Surveying and risk management and entered dialogue with American developers, the company said.
According to Survey Association, the US market has proven to be distinctly different from that of the European and Japanese markets, and the partnership did not manage to live up to the expectations of Survey Association.
The partnership has now been terminated and Survey Association is pulling back, to focus on delivering services to clients in Europe and Japan.
”The US market has a lot of potential, but has a fundamentally different approach to Risk engineering and management, which is not matching with our operating model, wherefore we have opted to exit this market,” Survey Association said.
”This allows us to focus on our current strongholds in Denmark, the Baltic Sea and Japan, and support offshore windfarm developers with marine risk management.”
