GE Renewable Energy (GE) has selected Global Wind Service (GWS) as a partner for the load-out and installation of the 80-turbine Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.
Work is scheduled to start during the spring and run throughout the summer and fall, GWS said.
The 480 MW Saint-Nazaire wind farm, also known as Parc éolien en mer du Banc de Guérande, will comprise 80 GE Haliade 150-6 MW wind turbines.
“We are extremely happy that GE Renewable Energy decided to continue our long-term partnership. We have worked with the Haliade turbine since its early days. From installation of the Haliade 150 prototype at Østerild test center in Denmark in 2016 to the installation of projects in Europe and the United States ,” said Lars Petersen , Chief Commercial Officer at Global Wind Service.
Scheduled to be commissioned in 2022, Saint-Nazaire will become the first commercial-scale wind farm installed in French waters.
Located between 12 and 20 kilometres off the coast of the Guérande peninsula, Saint-Nazaire is being developed by Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a consortium of EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge, and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
