CWind Taiwan, a joint venture between CWind and International Ocean Vessel Technical Consultant (IOVTEC), has acquired a new crew transfer vessel (CTV) to support the offshore wind market in Taiwan.

The vessel, named CWind Pesanach, has already joined CWind Taiwan’s fleet and will be supporting an offshore wind project off the coast of Changhua county.

“The booming growth of the offshore wind farm industry continues to drive a surplus of demand for CTVs in Taiwan. To keep pace with Taiwan’s rapidly developing offshore wind market CWind Taiwan continues to increase the number and capability of vessels to enhance the local vessel capacity and operating capability,” the company said.

The 27-metre long CTV was built by Singapore shipbuilder, Penguin International Ltd.

The newly acquired vessel features four SCANIA DI16 engines, a propulsion system with four Hamilton HM521 water jets, and has a maximum speed of up to 29 knots.

“Our new vessel, Pesanach, further enhances both the size of our CTV fleet and its capability, bringing unrivalled speed and transfer capability to the Taiwan market and increasing the time our technicians and our client’s technicians can spend on the turbines. Pesanach will be the first of many new vessels we bring to Taiwan in the coming years and underlines our long-term commitment to, and investment in, this key market ,” said Tom Manning , general manager of CWind Taiwan.

A couple of months ago, CWind Taiwan secured a charter contract with Siemens Gamesa for the CTV Phenom to support the installation of the 900 MW Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farms in 2022.

Last year, the company was awarded a contract by Van Oord to charter a survey vessel for the nearshore cable route survey at the Greater Changhua offshore wind projects in Taiwan.
