Specialist Marine Consultants (SMC) has secured a contract to provide marine coordination services on all three phases of the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank offshore wind farm, off the UK northeast coast.
Under the contract, SMC will deliver a turnkey marine coordination personnel service to support construction operations at the offshore wind farm.
“We have been involved in operations at Dogger Bank Wind Farm since the days of the Forewind consortium. Dogger Bank is a local project for us and has remained a key area of focus for the company over the years,” said George Moore , business development director at SMC.

Dogger Bank Wind Farm is a joint venture partnership between SSE Renewables (40 per cent), Equinor (40 per cent), and Eni (20 per cent).
SSE Renewables is leading on the development and construction of Dogger Bank Wind Farm , and Equinor will operate the wind farm on completion for its expected operational life of around 35 years.
Due to its size and scale, the project is being built in three phases – Dogger Bank A, B, and C – and each will have an installed generation capacity of up to 1.2 GW.
The offshore construction on Dogger Bank A is due to begin in the second quarter of 2022.
First power is expected in Summer 2023 and Summer 2024 for Dogger Bank A and B, respectively, with commercial operations to follow around six months later.
Dogger Bank C is expected to deliver first power in the third quarter of 2025 and be fully commissioned in the first quarter of 2026.
Once fully commissioned, which is expected in 2026, Dogger Bank will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world.
SMC and SSE are already cooperating on the Seagreen offshore wind farm where SMC is also supporting the project with both marine coordination and Balance of Plant services.
