Les Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL), a consortium comprising Ocean Winds and the Banque des Territoires which are developing the 30 MW floating wind pilot project in the French Mediterranean Sea, has signed an agreement Euroports for port services during the construction of the wind farm at the port of Port-La Nouvelle.
Euroports, the operator of a terminal dedicated to marine renewable energy projects in the port of Port-La Nouvelle, and the EFGL consortium signed the contract on 18 Marcg, in the presence of representatives from the Occitanie Region and the SEMOP Port-La Nouvelle.
Under the contract, Euroports will provide the logistical support in the port area during the installation phase, including the assembly of the wind turbines on the floating foundations.
The news comes less than two months after Ocean Winds and the Banque des Territoires reached the final investment decision for the project, setting it on the path to be built and in operation by the end of 2023.
The 30 MW EFGL pilot project involves the construction and operation of three 10 MW floating wind turbines supported by Principle Power’s WindFloat semi-submersible floating foundations.
The wind farm is located in the Mediterranean Sea, more than 16 kilometres offshore from Leucate, Aude, and Le Barcarès, Pyrénées-Orientales.
