Siem Offshore has deployed two vessels on offshore wind projects in Taiwan, according to the company which just announced it had signed a contract for its anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Siem Sapphire .
For Siem Sapphire , the company said it will support walk-to-work operations and provide accommodation in relation to commissioning of an offshore wind farm under the contract that secures firm utilisation well into the third quarter of 2022, plus options.
“This contract reiterates the strong demand from the offshore wind market, and serves as an example of the multipurpose capacities of our overall fleet” , Siem Offshore said on 31 March.
According to the vessel’s AIS data, Siem Sapphire is currently in Singapore, on its way to Taiwan.
The contract for Siem Sapphire follows the charter for the offshore subsea construction vessel (OSCV) Siem Barracuda in Taiwan, where the vessel has been active since early 2021.
For the OCSV, Siem Offshore signed a contract with Seaway 7, the renewables business unit of Subsea 7, in February 2021.
Siem Barracuda ‘s AIS data shows the vessel has been operating between the ports of Taichung and Anping in Taiwan.
