German-based HeliService International GmbH has signed a contract with Leonardo S.p.A for the delivery of two additional AW169 light intermediate twin-engine helicopters to support the offshore wind farm operations in Taiwan.
The contract brings the total number of AW169s ordered by HeliService to five since its first purchase back in 2015 and marks the entrance of the AW169 into the Asian offshore wind farm market.
The helicopters will be used to support Vestas on its offshore wind farm projects in Taiwan, starting in summer 2023.
“HeliService is the largest operator in the offshore wind market. We thank a lot of our success in this market to the versatility and capability of the AW16,” said Henk Shaeken , Managing Director of HeliServices.
A couple of days ago, Vestas received orders to supply wind turbines for two fixed-bottom wind farms in Taiwan.
The first order is for the 295 MW Zhong Neng offshore wind project , located off the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan.
The project will feature thirty-one Vestas V174-9.5 turbines and is expected to be fully operational in 2024.
Foxwell Energy Corporation placed a similar order of 31 Vestas V174-9.5 MW wind turbines for the 295 MW TPC Offshore Wind Generation Project Phase 2.
The project is expected to be commercially operational in 2025.
Vestas also signed an agreement with CIP in 2020 to supply the 589 MW Changfang and Xidao offshore wind projects with 62 Vestas V174-9.5 MW wind turbines. The wind farm is expected to be fully commissioned in early 2024.
