ARGE N1, a joint venture between SAL Renewables, Offshore Wind Solutions GmbH (OWS), and Wind Multiplikator GmbH, has commenced the components exchange campaign at the Nordsee One wind farm offshore Germany.

According to the joint venture, the campaign will see 44 rotor shaft bearings of the installed 6.2M126 wind turbines being replaced at the Nordsee One offshore wind farm which is expected to finish in September 2022, depending on the weather conditions.

The offshore work is being performed with the jack-up vessel Thor , which has recently changed ownership to Harren&Partner Group and is now in control by ARGE N1.

The dismantling and mounting of the 44 rotor shaft bearings are being conducted by OWS at its Emden facilities in Germany, from where the joint venture performed 10 main bearing replacements under its first contract for the project in 2021.

Nordsee One opened a tender for rotor shaft bearings exchange in June last year, with the contract start set to March 2022.

ARGE N1 said it was working together with Northland Power’s service team but has full turnkey responsibility for the campaign.

Nordsee One is owned by Northland Power Inc. (85 per cent) and RWE (15 per cent).

The 332 MW Nordsee One comprises 54 Senvion 6.2M126 turbines with a nominal output of 6.15 MW which have been in operation since 2017 .

The offshore wind farm, located in the German Bight approximately 32 kilometres north of the island Juist, can produce enough clean electricity to supply the equivalent of approximately 400,000 German households.
