Offshore Wind Could Supply 12 Per Cent of Vietnam's Power by 2035

Tokyo-headquartered RENOVA and Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on an offshore wind project in Vietnam.

Under the agreement, the two companies will form a cooperative relationship on scouting, preparation, offshore survey, development, construction, implementation, and O&M of the offshore wind project in Vietnam with a view toward commercialization.

The signing ceremony was held at the Asia Green Growth Partnership Ministerial Meeting’s Public-Private Forum organized by the Japanese Government.

“I am very delighted to form a close cooperative relationship with PTSC, which has advanced technologies for the construction of offshore facilities in Vietnam, where the continued growth of the renewable energy industry is anticipated. RENOVA will work harder on decarbonization in the country in cooperation with the Vietnamese government, the provincial government, partner companies and local residents,” said Yosuke Kiminami , RENOVA’s founding president and CEO.

As power demands in Vietnam are expected to double between 2020 and 2030, the country is targeting to have 6 GW of installed wind capacity by 2030.

PTSC Marine & Construction , a subsidiary of PTSC, is currently working on the two offshore substations and jacket foundations for the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 offshore wind farms in Taiwan, together with Semco Maritime.
