Huisman and Denmark-based BMS Heavy Cranes have started the production of a 3,000 metric ton Ringer Crane during a ceremony at Huisman’s production facility in the Czech Republic.
The production of the crane ceremonially commenced with the welding of the first parts of S690 steel using Huisman’s robotic welding technology called Wire & Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) which is a specific subtype of metal 3D printing that is similar to conventional welding used to produce mid-size to large complex-shaped components with high-grade tensile steel.
