Norwegian offshore wind service company Edda Wind has held a naming ceremony for its latest service operation vessel (SOV) Edda Brint at Astilleros Balenciaga shipyard in Spain.
This is the first of two SOVs Astilleros Balenciaga is building for Edda Wind. The second SOV (build number C416) will be launched in July while the delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.

The 82.85 metre-long Edda Brint , launched in 2021, has an accommodation capacity of up to 60 people, a motion-compensated gangway system, and will feature a propulsion system that allows for future installation of zero-emission hydrogen technology.
The SOV, which will be delivered in August, is almost completed and is now being prepared for sea trials before commencing operations at the Seagreen offshore wind farm in Scotland. Vestas chartered Edda Brint for a firm period of 15 years, i.e. running until 2037.
The vessel will serve as the mother vessel for wind turbine technicians as they perform commissioning and maintenance work on offshore wind turbines.
In addition to the SOVs, the company recently received its first hydrogen-ready commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) Edda Breeze , which is part of a nine-vessel newbuilding programme, from the Astilleros Gondán shipyard.
