The Danish Energy Agency and Energinet have invited potential tenderers and relevant industry associations to participate in a market dialogue concerning the upcoming procurements related to the Bornholm Energy Island offshore wind farm and other future wind farms.

Initially, the capacity of the Bornholm Energy Island offshore wind farm was set at 2 GW. Currently, there are ongoing political negotiations about whether the capacity of the offshore wind farm should be increased to up to 3 GW and whether the wind farm will be allowed to be located up to 15 kilometers from the shore.
The onshore substation will be located approximately one kilometer south of Nylars, Lodbæk, and Aakirkeby.
The Bornholm Energy Island offshore wind farm will be the first one to be completed in 2030. The capacity of the wind farm can rise up to 3.8 GW if overplanting is allowed, the Danish Energy Agency said.
The possible capacity from overplanting can, on private initiative, be used by the concessionaire for Power-to-X (PtX) projects, for example.
During the market dialogue , scheduled to start on 30 August, the most important topics will be discussed with potential tenderers and other actors in the offshore wind farm industry, the Danish Energy Agency said.
The dialogue will give the industry the possibility to affect the framework of the upcoming offshore wind farm by the Bornholm Energy Island, which should ensure that the submitted tenders are as good as possible.
The market dialogue will address the project’s development timeline, preliminary site investigations, bidding zone design, overplanting and PtX, support mechanisms, and the onshore substation and grid connection.
The main event will be held on 30 August, and individual meetings will be held between the 1 and 9 September.
All the meetings will be held in Copenhagen at Carsten Niebuhrs Gade 43, 1577 Copenhagen V. There is also an option for virtual meetings available.
The material will be released on the DEA’s homepage and sent via TED, the agency said.
The participants in the market dialogue are invited to consider the questions posed but are also welcome to send input related to themes not mentioned in this material, the agencies said. Written comments or questions to the DEA and Energinet should be sent by no later than 12 September.
Interested parties have until 18 August to register for the market dialogue.
