Parkwind has awarded Semco Maritime a five-year service contract for the offshore substation at the Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
From 2022 to 2027, Semco Maritime will perform service assignments at the offshore platform northeast of Rügen island in Germany.
The company’s scope of work will include scheduled and unscheduled service and maintenance, corrective maintenance, and 24/7 monitoring as well as on-duty call in connection with potential malfunction or disruption for immediate action.
The new contract follows the one under which Semco Maritime was responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of the high, medium, and low voltage equipment on the recently deployed substation at the 257 MW Arcadis Ost 1 project.
The 2,380-tonne, 30-metre high offshore substation was placed on its XXL monopile foundation last month by the Scaldis crane ship Gulliver, after DEME’s vessel Orion installed the foundation, marking the start of the offshore construction of the project.

The topside and the accompanying monopile foundation were manufactured and delivered by Bladt Industries in partnership with Semco Maritime and ISC Engineering as key partners, under a contract signed with Parkwind in 2020.
The Arcadis Ost 1 substation is planned to be commissioned in 2023 when it will collect green power generated by the 27 Vestas V174-9.5MW wind turbines which are expected to be installed at the site from June 2022 onward.
Jointly operated by 50Hertz and Parkwind , the offshore substation will form the backbone of 50Hertz’s Ostwind 2 offshore grid connection in the German Baltic Sea together with the 500 MW substation for Iberdrola’s Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm.
