Siemens Gamesa Stays on Gode Wind 1 and 2

Ørsted has awarded Siemens Gamesa with a contract to provide main component exchange services at the 582 MW Gode Wind 1 and 2 offshore wind farms in the German North Sea.

The scope of work comprises the turnkey delivery of specified main component exchange (MCE) services to be performed under the end-to-end responsibility at Gode Wind 1 and 2.

The duration of the framework agreement is two years plus an option for three one-year extensions, giving the contract a maximum length of five years.

Back in 2013, Ørsted (then DONG Energy) selected Siemens Gamesa (then Siemens Wind Power) to deliver 97 6 MW wind turbines for the Gode Wind 1 and 2 wind farms. The agreement included a five-year maintenance contract following the commissioning of the wind farm.

Gode Wind 1 and 2 were officially inaugurated in June 2017.

The wind farms are located approximately 45 kilometres off the German coast, in the immediate vicinity of Ørsted’s Borkum Riffgrund 1 wind farm. The project covers an area of 70 square kilometres.

Ørsted holds 50 per cent stakes in Gode Wind 1 and 2. The Renewables Infrastructure Group and Glennmont Partners each hold a 25 per cent stake in Gode Wind 1.

AIP Management and the three Danish pension funds, Industriens Pension, Lærernes Pension, and Lægernes Pensionskasse hold a total of 50 per cent of Gode Wind 2.

Ørsted is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the two wind farms.
