Briggs Marine has been appointed to provide walk-to-work and crew transfer vessel coordination services during the construction and commissioning of the two Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore substations.
The contract for walk-to-work support comes a few months after the Fife-based company secured work on crew transfer vessel (CTV) services on the same project.
Briggs Marine has secured a long term charter of the DP3 offshore support vessel, EDT Protea , and is coordinating the 24-hour operation with its offshore personnel.
The company is in charge of overseeing the transfer of up to 50 technicians from the vessel to NnG’s substations via the SMST Telescopic Access Bridge.
Working alongside EDT Protea , Briggs Marine’s CTV Forth Engineer has been deployed to provide crew transfer services in support of the programme for technicians across the wider site and to shore.

This is a crucial element of the construction and commissioning process and key to bringing the wind farm a step closer to generating and exporting energy to the grid” , said Craig English , Director of Subsea and Environmental Services at Briggs Marine.
The first of the wind farm’s two offshore substation was installed in June, with commissioning work underway.

The 450 MW wind farm, jointly owned by EDF Renewables and ESB, is under construction 15 kilometres off the coast of Fife, Scotland.
Neart na Gaoithe will comprise 54 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines which are scheduled to be put into full operation in 2024.
