Baltic Power, a joint venture between Polish Orlen Group and Canadian Northland Power, has signed reservation agreements for the manufacture and installation of foundations and offshore substations (OSS) for their 1.2 GW offshore wind farm.

Monopile foundations will be manufactured and delivered by German Steelwind Nordenham , while Belgium-based Smulders will be responsible for delivering transition pieces. Some of the structures will be manufactured in Poland, according to a press release from the Orlen Group.

The transport and installation of foundations at the project site, located approximately 23 kilometres north of the Polish Baltic Sea coastline, will be carried out by the Dutch offshore construction company Van Oord .

A consortium of Danish companies Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of the wind farm’s two offshore substations.

The contracts follow the recently signed vessel reservation agreement for wind turbine installation, for which Baltic Power selected Cadeler who will utilise one of its two O-class installation vessels.

The Baltic Power offshore wind farm, to be built in waters in the vicinity of Choczewo and Łeba , is expected to enter construction in 2024 and to be completed in 2026.

The 1.2 GW wind farm will comprise around 70 wind turbines of a 14 MW capacity and could generate electricity for 1.5 million Polish households.
