Dutch offshore lifting equipment provider KenzFigee has launched its first up-tower crane solution, named GenHook, for offshore application.

GenHook offshore up-tower crane solution, which the company presented at the WindEnergy Conference & Exhibition in Hamburg, has a lifting capacity of up to 30 tonnes and is able to perform generator and gearbox exchanges and repairs.

The company said that the development and launch of such a product is a direct result of high market demand for a more efficient solution for offshore wind turbine major component exchanges and repairs.

The use of up-tower crane technology enables smaller jack-up barges and offshore vessels to be deployed, which avoids the use of costly conventional units, said KenzFigee.

Compared to large traditional cranes, the up-tower cranes are safer, more reliable, have a larger operational window and generate zero CO2 since they are powered by the wind turbine itself, according to the company.

KenzFigee offers crane and equipment services worldwide, supporting clients from equipment selection to product design, production, assembly, testing, installation, commissioning, as well as after-sales service and maintenance.

The company has worked on several major offshore wind projects in Europe such as Neart na Gaoithe in France and Sofia offshore wind farm in the UK.

A few months ago, KenzFigee signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CMIC Ocean En-Tech to offer gangways and installation cranes to the offshore wind market in China.
