Global Maritime Secures Marine Warranty Contract in Poland

Global Maritime has secured a contract for a complete marine warranty package for the 1.2 GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm in Poland.

The contract is the latest in a series of supplier agreements Baltic Power, the joint venture between Polish Orlen Group and Canadian Northland Power, awarded over the past few months.

“This is a truly global project, making it the ideal fit for us. We’ll focus on local content for onsite activities to keep project costs under control, with the ability to draw on the extensive knowledge resource of our global network of highly skilled engineers combined with experienced Master Mariners” , said Ekkehard Stade , Director of Marine Services for Global Maritime.

Commenting on the contract, EPCI Director for Baltic Power, Cat Brown , said: “We’re delighted to have Global Maritime onboard. Their track record and extensive experience in marine warranty as well as their local presence in Poland makes them a great partner for our project, that once constructed in 2026 will be one of the first large scale offshore wind farms in the Polish sector producing energy for more than 1.5mil Polish households”.

The Baltic Power offshore wind farm, to be built in waters in the vicinity of Choczewo and Łeba , is expected to enter construction in 2024 and to be completed in 2026.

Once operational, the 1.2 GW wind farm will generate electricity for 1.5 million Polish households.

This month, the Baltic Power joint venture announced preferred suppliers of all key components of the farm: foundations, wind turbines, substations, and cables.

The wind turbine supplier will be Vestas, as the developer have opted for its new 15 MW model , with 76 of these units to be installed at the project site in the Polish Baltic Sea.
