Ocean Winds, a 50-50 joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE, has submitted the scoping report to Marine Scotland for its Caledonia offshore wind farm.

The report outlines the technologies under consideration for developing the 2 GW offshore wind project across a 429-square-kilometre site in the Moray Firth for which Ocean Winds won the development rights in the ScotWind auction.

The scoping report also details the work that will be undertaken for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) which will support the planning application for the project, which is expected to be submitted in 2024.

“The ScotWind seabed allocation took place at the beginning of the year, and I am pleased that, after just nine months Caledonia is one of the first projects to publish its scoping report – marking an important early milestone in project development”, said Mark Baxter , Caledonia Project Director.

In July, Ocean Winds revealed its plans to build out the Caledonia offshore wind farm to an installed generation capacity of 2 GW, with the supply chain commitments made to be reflective of the planned target capacity.
