Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, a 50:50 joint venture between EDF Renewables and Shell New Energies US, has selected Ramboll for the design of the wind turbine foundations for Atlantic Shores Project 1, the 1.5 GW offshore wind farm planned to be built offshore New Jersey.
Ramboll will provide a comprehensive design service to be led by a group of experts across the United States and Europe, the company said.

The Shell-EDF Renewables joint venture holds development rights for an offshore wind lease area located some 14 to 32 kilometres off the New Jersey coast, between Barnegat Light and Atlantic City, which can accommodate more than 3 GW of offshore wind capacity, according to Atlantic Shores.
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) awarded Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind with 1,510 MW of offshore wind capacity as part of the State’s second offshore wind solicitation in June last year.
In September 2021, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) started an environmental review of two of the joint venture’s projects proposed to built offshore New Jersey: Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 1 and Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 2, which EDF Renewables and Shell are developing to support the future solicitations for offshore wind generation in New Jersey.
This year, Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind was also announced as one of the provisional winners in the record-breaking lease sale in the New York Bight.
