Copenhagen Energy, a Danish energy trader and developer of solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind projects, has sold its stake in the Frederikshavn offshore wind farm, the first to feature Vestas’ 15 MW turbines.

According to the company, the project marks the first major divestment for Copenhagen Energy. While the company did not specify who is the buyer of its share in the project, the Danish media site EnergiWatch reports that the company sold its minority stake to European Energy.

Earlier this year, European Energy and Vestas announced their plan to deploy Vestas’ flagship V236-15 MW offshore wind turbines at three of the five test positions at the demonstrator wind farm.

Last month, the Danish Energy Agency issued an establishment permit for the Frederikshavn offshore wind farm, clearing the project to install five wind turbines and a wind farm with a capacity of up to 72 MW.

The wind turbines are expected to be constructed and put into operation in 2024.

Copenhagen Energy says that it sees great value in this project as through Frederikshavn offshore wind farm it had gained unprecedented experience using the newest offshore wind technology.

The company is now behind several projects worldwide, the most recent being the developments announced in the Philippines , where the Danish developer partnered with PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC).

Copenhagen Energy has also has submitted four offshore wind project proposals in Australia , each for a 3 GW offshore wind farm.
