Norway-headquartered Kongsberg Maritime has won a contract for two Commissioning Service Operations Vessels (CSOVs) from Pelagic Power.
Under the contract, which is worth NOK 300 million (approximately EUR 29 million), Kongsberg Maritime will be responsible for providing advanced vessel design and equipment for the two CSOVs.
The CSOVs will be built to Kongsberg Maritime’s UT 5519 HL design which has been upgraded in terms of operability, safety, and lowered fuel consumption.
The equipment package will include a hybrid propulsion system, permanent magnet azimuth thrusters, ship automation, deck machinery, power electrical systems, instruments, bridge consoles, and ship monitoring systems.
The equipment is expected to provide significant environmental and operational benefits such as conducting port operations without the need for diesel engines, Kongsberg Maritime said.
The CSOVs, built by India’s Cochin Shipyard, are scheduled to be operational in 2025.
At the beginning of this month, Pelagic Partners made an entry into the offshore wind market with a 2+2+2 newbuild order for CSOVs. The value order was over EUR 350 million.
