The floating LiDAR device was deployed as part of the campaign to measure wind, metocean, and environmental conditions of the project in the North Sea, around 75 kilometres off the Aberdeenshire coast.

This followed validation at Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s offshore meteorological mast in Blyth, Northumberland.
The data collected from the EOLOS FLS200 floating LiDAR and metocean devices will give insight to the developer, Floating Energy Allyance (FEA), about the project’s energy yield, engineering design, and environmental assessments.
Floating Energy Allyance, a consortium comprising BW Ideol, Elicio, and BayWa r.e., secured the rights for the project site at the beginning of this year through the ScotWind leasing round.
The consortium plans to build a floating offshore wind farm with a capacity of approximately 1 GW, whose wind turbines will be installed on BW Ideol’s Damping Pool floating foundations.
