The 20 Vestas V117-4.2 MW wind turbines installed off Noshiro Port as part of the 140 MW Akita Noshiro offshore wind project have been put into operation, Akita Offshore Wind Corporation (AOW) said.
”We are pleased to announce that we started commercial operation based on the feed-in tariff program for renewable energy at the Noshiro Port Offshore Wind Farm on December 22, 2022,” AOW, the developer of the project, said.

AOW added that the Akita Port offshore wind farm, comprising 13 Vestas V117-4.2 MW units is currently under commissioning work and its commercial operation based on FIT is expected in due course.
The developer will operate and maintain the wind farm for a period of 20 years from an O&M base located in Noshiro Port.
All 33 were transported and installed before the end of September this year by the wind farm installation vessel, Seajacks Zaratan .
AOW is a consortium led by Marubeni which also includes Obayashi Corporation, Tohoku Sustainable & Renewable Energy, Cosmo Eco Power, The Kansai Electric Power, Chubu Electric Power, The Akita Bank, Ohmori, Sawakigumi Corporation, Kyowa Oil, Katokensetsu, Kanpu, and Sankyo.
Kajima Corporation is the project’s EPCI contractor. The project cost was JPY 100 billion (EUR 712 million), Marubeni Corporation said.
The electricity generated at Akita Noshiro is delivered to Tohoku Electric Power, which has a 20-year power purchase agreement for the entire output of the offshore wind farm.
