Edda Wind third CSOV

Gondan Shipyard has launched another commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) it is building for the Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind at its yard in Figueras, Spain.

The vessel, designed by Salt Ship Design, is prepared for the installation of zero-emission hydrogen technology, based on funding from Enova SF, a Norwegian government enterprise responsible for promoting environmentally friendly production and energy consumption.

The 88.3-metre CSOV has an accommodation capacity for 120 people (93 technicians and 27 crew members), a 3D motion-compensated gangway with a maximum range of 30 metres for personnel transfer, a 3D offshore crane, and an integrated elevator with a capacity of up to 26 persons.

This is the third in a series of six vessels designed to transfer technical personnel for the commissioning and maintenance of offshore wind farms.

In May last year, Edda Wind took delivery of its first CSOV, the hydrogen-ready Edda Breeze , which is chartered by Ocean Breeze to provide services for the BARD Offshore 1 wind farm in Germany.

A year later, Gondan Shipyard launched another CSOV, planned to be deployed in the North Sea to enable the commissioning and construction of the first two phases of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm.
