Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has narrowed down the list of offshore wind projects selected in the latest allocation round and has now awarded capacity to seven out of the initially chosen ten future offshore wind farms.
On 14 December, MOEA announced that ten projects were selected in the first auction of the Round 3 Zonal Development Phase and noted that the final list would be made known by the end of the year, after decisions were made on projects whose sites are overlapping.

Today, 30 December, the Ministry informed seven of these developments are moving forward.
The wind farms, to be built offshore Miaoli, Taichung, and Changhua, will add 3 GW of new offshore wind capacity in Taiwan and will come online in 2026 and 2027.

The projects from the first list that were not awarded capacity after the final selection are Corio and JERA’s Haiding 3, Skyborn’s Youde offshore wind farm, and Northland Power’s NorthWind (Beineng) offshore wind farm.
