Spain’s GRI Renewable Industries and the Polish Industrial Development Agency (IDA JSC or ARP) have created a joint venture for the construction of a new offshore wind tower factory in the city of Gdansk, Poland.
The estimated value of this investment is more than EUR 200 million, and production is expected to start in 2025 with the hiring of 400 workers, GRI said.

The planned investment is expected to meet the growing demand for wind towers and the dynamic development of the offshore wind energy market in Poland and the rest of Europe, and significantly increase the participation of Polish companies and the Spanish company GRI in the supply chain of offshore wind farm construction in the Baltic Sea.
”We are very proud to participate in this major wind energy project towards sustainability and carbon neutrality. This joint venture will create a world leader in the offshore market which is becoming more and more demanding year after year,” said Jon Riberas Executive Chairman of GRI.
The offshore tower production hall will be located on the island of Ostrów in Gdansk and have direct access to the mooring quay.
It will be built with the capacity to manufacture towers for the largest wind turbines with a capacity of more than 14 MW, the partners said.
The facility, designed and built according to Industry 4.0 standards, will have the capacity to manufacture more than 200 offshore towers per year.
”The plant will meet the highest technical, quality and environmental standards set by key customers in the offshore wind energy market,” said Cezariusz Lesisz , President of the ARP Industrial Development Agency.
This cooperation with GRI Renewable Industries is one of the projects aimed at stimulating the growth of offshore wind energy in Poland undertaken by the ARP Industrial Development Agency, and incorporated within the Sectoral Agreement for the Development of Offshore Wind Energy in Poland.
”Poland has been creating a supply chain in the offshore wind sector for several years. Offshore wind turbines will be manufactured in our country and in this way we involve domestic companies as co-manufacturers and create an offshore wind ecosystem. Working with an experienced partner like GRI allows us to expand our production and service facilities,” Mateusz Berger , Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, said.
”This agreement also incorporates future maintenance of offshore wind farm technology in the Baltic Sea. The whole process is in line with the developing energy transition policy, which emphasises the benefits and importance of a zero-emission offshore wind sector.”
GRI Renewable Industries has been developing its core business of manufacturing wind towers and flanges since. The company currently has 18 manufacturing plants in Spain, USA, Brazil, Argentina, China, Turkey, India, and South Africa. GRI closed 2022 with sales in excess of EUR 1 billion and more than 5,000 employees.
