Navantia Seanergies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US shipyard General Dynamics NASSCO to jointly bid for offshore wind farm projects in the United States.
The agreement was signed by the Director of Navantia Seanergies, Javier Herrador, and the President of General Dynamics NASSCO, David J. Carver.

The agreement includes the manufacture of components and assembly of floating foundations for offshore wind projects in the US, combining Navantia’s knowledge and experience in the offshore wind sector with the capabilities of the shipyard located in San Diego, California, as well as the port facilities in the vicinity and other sites of future offshore wind development on that coast and on the east coast.
The US set a national target of 30 GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030 and California expanded its offshore wind target from the initially set 3 GW to 2-5 GW by 2030, with an aim of having up to 25 GW installed by 2045.
This agreement strengthens the commercial options of Navantia’s green energy division in the US, where it already has contracts for five substations for two wind farms on the east coast, in addition to other projects in the bidding phase for this country, said Spain’s naval services provider.
Navantia Seanergies has experience in localising production after being responsible for the production of 62 jacket foundations for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France, with part of the production carried out in Brest, Brittany, a model the company intends to export to other locations, including the US, according to the press release.
