Vestas has signed a five-year agreement with Blue Water for handling wind turbine components at Blue Water’s terminals in Denmark and Germany.
The agreement covers terminal handling of the heavy wind turbine components, stevedoring, storage and service for five years on all Vestas’ components which are shipped to and from all over the world via Blue Water Terminals Esbjerg and the Blue Water BREB Terminals in Cuxhaven.
“ For many years, Vestas and Blue Water have worked closely together on global wind projects, but this contract is by far the most comprehensive that has been concluded between the two Danish companies “, Blue Water states in a press release.

Security and quality are Vestas’ priority, and we are convinced that at Blue Water we will get the right solution, and we are looking forward to continuing and expanding the collaboration for a long time to come” , said Torben Andersen , Head Transport Procurement, Vestas.
The Port of Esbjerg, Denmark’s largest port, has an area of 4.5 million square meters and is part of a specialised port network which plays a key role in the Danish and European wind sector, Blue Water pointed out.
According to information released by the port, 80 per cent of the European offshore wind capacity has been shipped out from the Port of Esbjerg.
Blue Water also noted that the port in Cuxhaven was Germany’s largest wind terminal and added that the German port was perfectly located for transport to onshore and offshore wind projects.
Both ports are members of the alliance recently forged by six European ports which aims to resolve capacity issues that already exist and are set to become even more pressing as offshore wind goals agreed under the Esbjerg Declaration bring faster buildout of offshore wind farms.
